One of the finest fire departments in the world began as a simple, one-apparatus volunteer department in 1872. Today, the 1,900-member department is on the forefront of firefighting technology and social change.

My Hometown

Dallas is often called "Big D." At 460 square miles, my hometown is geographically big, with a population and, well, pride, to match. While visiting England, people often asked us where we were from. As soon as we said Dallas, the response was always: "Ah, J.R. Ewing and the Dallas Cowboys." After all these years, our fictious oilman regins alongside Texas football.
